Appointments

Do I need an appointment?

Although an appointment is not required it is advisable to contact our office prior to your visit in order that one of our Notaries will be available to accomodate your needs in a timely manner.

What are your hours?

We are open in Chilliwack from 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday and the Agassiz office is open from 9am to 4:30pm Tuesday thru Friday. 

Buying a Home

Do I need a Notary to purchase a house?

Yes, Notaries search the title of your new home and prepare all the necessary transfer papers to ensure that your home is transferred into your name without liens and encumberances from the previous owner.

Legal

Is a Notary a Lawyer?

No, Notaries are governed by the Society of Notaries Public of BC to act in certain areas of law, including real estate, wills and powers of attorney. We do not act in litigation matters or areas of family law.

Selling a Home

Do I need a Notary to sell a home?

Yes, a Notary will ensure that all the terms of the sales contract are met and ensure that the sale proceeds are paid to you on the closing date.

Wills

How long does it take to prepare a will?

Setting up a will involves two meetings. The first meeting the notary will take instructions as to who you want as executors, beneficiaries, guardians of children and other wishes. The second meeting, about one to two weeks later, is for review of the will and signing. Each appointment is approximately 15-30 minutes in length.
